The Last Step: Commercial Certification

With funding raised from the crowdfunding offering on the StartEngine platform, two Wind Harvesters will be installed at the UL Advanced Wind Turbine Testing Facility in Texas. There they will undergo a series of tests, including:

  • Power performance and annual energy production (IEC* 61400-13)
  • Safety and function (IEC 61400-2)
  • Acoustics (IEC 61400-11 and IEC 61400-14)
  • Aeroelastic modeling and fatigue analysis (IEC 61400-2)
  • 6-month duration test (61400-2)
  • Wake turbulence using doppler LIDAR data and CFD modeling
  • Bird and bat behavior, using field observers and the DTBird detection system.

The present plan for these turbines is to build them so that they can survive Category 5 hurricanes and be shipped ot St. Croix project after testing has been completed.
