Model 3.1 Control Panel ready for the next step!
Charlie Persson hands off his hand-made control panel to its designer Mark Chang, electrical engineer extraordinaire. Mark will add the final pieces (including a programmable logic control computer) and test it before sending it to TX for installation into the power converter and resistor brake panel that is being made [...]
Installing Strain Gauges to collect data!
Antonio Ojeda and one of our new interns, Omar Garcia, are installing dime-sized strain gauges on the Model 3.1 blades in the UL “shop” in Texas. Strain gauges collect data that help validate the frequency response (harmonic resonance), aerodynamic, fatigue life, and structural models that make up our aeroelastic model. [...]
Model 3.1 foundation poured!
Coinciding with the arrival of our turbine package at the testing facility in Texas, the Model 3.1 turbine foundation has been built and poured!
Turbine Package Arrives. A peek inside
Welcome to Texas! After delays (due in part to severe congestion in the world’s ports) we are pleased to announce that the Wind Harvester Model 3.1 components arrived at the UL’s Advanced Wind Turbine Testing Facility in Texas on June 15! The drive shaft, blades, and much more were sent [...]
Transformer Awaiting Arrival of Model 3.1 Turbine
The transformer arrived in Texas. Antonio Ojeda and Jeff Willis prepared the 3-Phase 500 KVA transformer site, which will support four turbines. The first turbine will arrive on June 15th.
Transition fairings arrive
While there have been some delays in getting equipment to the site, the Model 3.1 Turbine is expected to be installed at the end of June. In the meantime, Antonio Ojeda’s lightweight transition fairings have arrived from Madrid in plenty of time.
Wind Harvester Model 3.1 Installation Progress
A lot is happening here at Wind Harvest. First, our Model 3.1 turbine will not be installed in Texas until the end of June because, among other issues, problems with severe congestion in the world's ports have delayed the arrival of the turbine package from Denmark by almost three weeks. [...]
Model 3.1 Blade Arm Fairings
Antonio Ojeda, who spent many hours working with Model 3.0 in Denmark will help on all aspects of Model 3.1 in Texas this summer. He is bringing with him the blade arm fairings he made from the mold he created in his shop in Spain.
